Where every word, image and video on this site came from, and what no longer exists anywhere.
This is an independent rebuild of the Client Strategy Group website. The original at csgax.com is gone: the domain now serves a Hostinger parking page. Everything here was recovered from the Internet Archive and the company's own YouTube channel. Nothing was invented as a company fact.
Where each part came from
- Company facts — the LinkedIn company page's structured data (name, description, website, logo).
- Page copy, services, client stories, FAQs, the team, partners, articles, events, addresses and phone numbers — archived captures of csgax.com from 2013 to 2018, via the Internet Archive Wayback Machine.
- The three homepage slides — the company's own banner.xml, which configured the original carousel: the headline, the call to action, the target page and the strip colour all come from that file.
- The team names and titles — the same banner.xml, which listed the seven people the original site rotated through its banner.
- The eleven videos — the company's own YouTube channel, @clientstrategygroup (“CSG AX”), through its RSS feed. Poster frames are the channel's own thumbnails.
- Four video transcripts — the archived article page that sat behind each video.
- The acquisition announcement — the press release of 6 July 2016 published on csgax.com.
Images
Every image on this site is the company's own artwork, recovered from the archive. No stock photography and no third-party icon sets are used. Specifically:
- logo.png — the CSG logo, unchanged (168×92). A 2× copy and a favicon were generated from it; nothing else was altered.
- joel.png, dave.png, person1–5.png — the seven cut-out portraits the original banner rotated through. They keep their transparency, which is why they sit on black.
- The three colour textures — blue_partten.gif, green_partten.gif, orange-pattern.gif and their left/right edges. These are the original hero strips, used as tiles exactly as the original CSS used them.
- rect_blue/green/orange.gif — the 9×9 colour bars that marked each service group.
- rectangles.png — the 9×129 sprite that bulleted sub-headings, used with its original three background offsets.
- csg-button-sprites.jpg — the 18×18 colour dot buttons from the original carousel, at their original sprite positions.
- body_bg.jpg, body_bg_sub.jpg, footer_bg.png — the original dark backgrounds.
- thumb-resources/events/testimonials.jpg — the three homepage panels.
- MattHill3.jpg, MikeSimms4.jpg, RonStuver.jpg — the article thumbnails that went with the three featured videos.
- partner-logo.png, AXUG_Sponsor_Platinum.png, AXUG_Summit2014_comp1.png — the Microsoft partner mark and the AXUG sponsor graphics.
- contact_bg*.gif — the contact panel backgrounds.
What was recovered, and what was not
The archive held 449 distinct URLs for csgax.com. Of those, 84 were real assets: 6 stylesheets, 17 scripts, 45 images, 1 PDF and the rest page furniture.
- Not recovered: the small sub-*.png variants of the seven portraits. The original used them for the sub-page banner; this rebuild uses the full-size portraits instead.
- Not recovered: favicon.ico and three WordPress core scripts. A favicon was generated from the logo instead.
- Not recovered: the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 white paper PDF. It is listed on the Resources page as a document that existed, and is not offered for download.
- Gone from YouTube: two videos the original site embedded — the Mobile Solutions video and the 2014 AXUG Summit video. Both are listed on the Resources page as a record rather than played.
- Never on the site: the roughly 130 spam pages the domain served in 2021 and 2023, in Chinese and in pinyin. The domain was clearly compromised after the company was acquired. None of it is reproduced here.
Design values taken from the original
The stylesheet was written fresh, but every colour and proportion in it was read out of the company's own theme file or sampled from the company's own artwork:
- Blue#4988c9 · #9cc6f2 · #9bc3ed
- Green#8ad411 · #9bd739 · #426804 · #4f790c
- Orange#f5510b · #f28233 · #872c05 · #642205
- Backgrounds#000000 · #1a1a1a
- Greys#c0c0c0 · #909090 · #6e6e6e · #96989a
- Body faceArial, Helvetica
- Headline faceVerdana, uppercase, bold
- Rhythm635 px content + 265 px sidebar, from a 960 px page
The original theme files are kept, unmodified, in _tools/archive/theme-css/ and _tools/archive/theme-js/, together with the original banner.xml. Nothing in them is loaded by these pages.
Deviations, stated plainly
- The site is lighter than the original. The original was a fixed 960 px black page. This rebuild keeps the black hero, the three texture strips, the colour dot buttons and the colour-coded sections, and puts the page bodies on paper. The brief asked for a clean, light feel rather than a wall of black.
- It is not fixed-width. The original was 960 px with absolute positioning. This rebuild is responsive and passes a horizontal-overflow check at 375, 768 and 1440 px.
- Ten pages, not fifty. The original spread the same content over many URLs. Each of those is reachable here as an anchored section, so no navigation link is a dead end.
- Two text colours were darkened for legibility. The original set one word of each hero headline in #4f790c (green strip) and #872c05 (orange strip) — both kept here — but the surrounding headline was plain white on a mid-green or mid-orange texture. A one-pixel dark text shadow was added, as the original's own css3.css did.
- The newsletter and contact forms do nothing. There is no server behind them. They validate in the browser and then say so. The original used Gravity Forms.
- No analytics, no cookies, no cookie banner. The original ran Google Analytics and a consent bar; this rebuild makes no external request on load at all.
